The Great Impacts of Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund

The American Civil Liberties Union dedicates its efforts to enforcing and expanding civil rights and civil liberties for the immigrant. The organization also combats private and public discrimination against immigrants. Using public outreach, targeted advocacy, and impact litigation, ACLU protects immigrants accordingly.

For more than two decades, ACLU has led in major legal struggles on behalf of the rights of immigrants. The Organization mainly focuses on challenging laws that deny immigrants their right to access courts, imposing mandatory detention, and discrimination regarding nationality.

Additionally, ACLU has managed to challenge constitutional abuses arising from immigration enforcement at local, state, and federal levels. ACLU empowers communities in different parts of the United States by defending their rights in court. Throughout the years, the organization has been influencing public policies in a strong voice. Immigrants can now live peacefully and comfortably without facing discrimination from the government or other majority groups.

Jim and Lacey are the co-founders of Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media. The two individuals are dedicated to giving funds to support migrant rights firms in different parts of Arizona. The two dedicated the $3.75 million that was as a result of their arrest by Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County.

The journalists were arrested from their homes at midnight and jailed after exposing the existence of the various grand jury proceedings that were searching for reporters who had written articles giving information about the activities of the Sheriff.

The grand jury subpoenas went ahead to demand the identification of citizenship of individuals who read New Times stories about lawman. Larkin and Lacey had spent most of their time in their careers defending and asserting their First Amendment rights. The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is aimed at supporting organizations advocating for human, civil, and migrant rights.

The fund also supports groups that fight for the right of freedom of civic participation and speech. Michael Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund will support such activities throughout Arizona and the Mexican Border.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin founded The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund to support the Hispanic community. The Hispanic community had faced civil rights abuses and racial animus in Arizona.

The two journalists felt compelled to help the community by establishing a foundation that would ensure that the community will enjoy better living conditions than before. Border Angels is also another organization that operates in the same manner as Lacey and Larkin Fund.
